I was reading about how Louise Troh (girlfriend of Thomas Eric Duncan, first person to die of Ebola in the U.S. a few weeks ago) heard of Duncan's death from her pastor, who had to stand a few feet away and could only console her through crossing his arms over his chest. It's so sad to see how this disease robs us of the consolation of human touch. But it's also remarkable what we do in place of it with just as much affection. You can read more about this and the life in quarantine people are living in here.
This made me look into sign language, how this can connect and what other emotions look like when we're left to display them from afar.

This is an idea I had years ago. I enjoy the possibility for a narrative here.

I can't believe it's been 40 days since I began this project. It's been great thus far. Pushing myself everyday to produce at least one drawing no matter what (even when the result is not ideal) has taught me patience, discipline and humility. Looking back at each drawing I can remember details of each day and the emotions that I carried then really did come out in what I created. Here's a reflection on volcanoes and imagined landscapes.

Thoughts of a humming bird, a heart, a helicopter, and pollination came to mind while drawing tonight.

This is a super quick sketch of an anglerfish. It's terrifying (from my perspective) the way they mate here, but fascinating all the same. Definitely will revisit this and take more time on a watercolor. :)

The smallest drawing of them all. Everything is starting to get mixed up in my head but I'm happy to see it all come together.

Giving the cuttlefish another go with more time. But the watercolor will also come to be. These fish look so different from every which angle and light. Loving them. :)
