Initially this was to be a representational illustration of a crow. However, in layering the blues, turquoise, and purples I got carried away by the color pattern. The result became more elaborate through some struggle and initial reluctance, but I'm glad I didn't walk away.

Stumbled on a photograph of Syrian refugees crossing water on a raft toward Greece. Still amazes me to see people's grit and determination in seeking a safe haven, a shelter from the past. This is such a heavy and layered situation. I hope everyone can find a place of their own.
